Are you preparing powdered formula correctly?
CDC safe formula preparation guidelines instruct parents to mix boiled water with powdered infant formula while the water is still very hot, then cool the formula to a safe feeding temperature. This differs from the instructions on the powdered formula labels.
The intent here is not to sterilize the WATER. Powdered infant formula is a non-sterile product and has been associated with serious illness and death in infants due to bacterial infections. Formula can also be contaminated after the containers are opened.
