The following is a note from our fabulous triage RN, Jasmin. She’d like to be sure that all of our precious GROW families are proceeding with caution, as we all hope to get back to normal soon!

“As government restrictions regarding slowing the spread of the COVID-19 virus are being lifted and businesses are reopening, parents are left with many questions on how to continue protecting their families.  We have received a lot of calls concerning what activities are safe or advised as the plans to reopen Texas continue. Unfortunately, the case numbers in Austin have continued to rise. We don’t yet know how the loosening of restrictions is going to affect the spread of COVID-19.  Our GROW providers are continuing to recommend strict social distancing practices.  Social distancing, as outlined by the CDC, includes staying at least 6 feet from other people, not gathering in groups and avoidance of crowded places or mass gatherings.  We recommend continuing to limit interactions with persons outside of your home as much as is possible.  At this time, we continue to recommend avoidance of play dates and gathering with relatives or friends from other households. If children must go to a crowded area where 6 feet of distance cannot be maintained a cloth face covering should be worn by all children over the age of 2 years old. Please remember it is not safe for a child under the age of 2 to wear a face covering.

We will continue to follow the guidance put forth by the American Academy of Pediatrics and the CDC and keep you informed of any policy changes in our practice. We are happy to arrange a telehealth visit if you have further questions or concerns that you would like to discuss with your child’s doctor.  Below is an article from the CDC concerning staying healthy while school is out and an article concerning face masks in children from the American Academy of Pediatrics.”
