As a response to many worried parent phone calls today, our nursing staff would like to provide some clarification on the possible contamination of HEB strawberries, which has been in the news the past few days. We understand how scary this can be! Many of our kiddos are on diets heavy with HEB organic strawberries, as well. The link below is information directly from the FDA, and should be considered the most accurate and up to date. The good news is that this batch of strawberries has been off shelves for over 5 weeks, so if you do happen to have any frozen and are not sure of when they arrived, please dispose of them. Also, and this is even better news; routine childhood immunizations include a vaccine to protect us from Hepatitis A! This is administered first at 12 months and then again at either 18 or 24 months. (Generally at GROW, we give dose #2 at 24 months.)
